The virus herpes simplex type 1 causes a cold sore, also known as a fever blister. Once you have the cold sore virus, it will stay within your body forever, which means there is always a chance to have a breakout.
Denavir is an anti-viral cream that can be used to treat cold sores as soon as there is a sign of a breakout. Denavir works best when it is applied during the early signs of a breakout. Denavir cream penetrates the area where the break is occurring and blocks the virus that will cause the cold sore. Denavir is intended for external use and should be applied every two waking hours for four days.
